This one credit course provides graduate students to practice speaking in front of an international scientific audience and to explore topics in detail. The whole course is delivered in English. Students will search topics and organize an oral presentation for all faculty members and other students. The topics may be any aspect in physical therapy fields and must be approved by his/her advisors in advance. Students, to encourage excellence in public speaking, will improve their oral- and written-report skills. It is important that the students may not give a presentation similar to one he/she has delivered in another class. If this is the second time taking seminar, then the topic should be substantially different from the previous one. To help students improve as speakers in an international conference, each student will receive feedback from the fellow students and the instructor. The audience students practice listening, critiquing, discussing and summarizing skills to fulfill their basic scientific training. This course provides them with the opportunity to evaluate components of good public seminars. The topic must be determined 2 weeks before the oral presentation, an English abstract need to be submitted one week before, and the final report is the revised PowerPoint file. |
